Els Janssens-Vanmunster studied singing at the conservatories of Liège (B) and Toulouse (F), subsequently specialising in medieval music at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (CH). Thanks to her flexible voice with a wide range, a rich timbre, and irreproachable pronunciation, she is at ease in both early music and contemporary repertoires, moving from interpretations of medieval music and baroque operas to contemporary music and jazz.

As the artistic director of Mora Vocis, an ensemble “au féminin” for medieval and contemporary vocal music, Els Janssens-Vanmunster combines her love for singing and staging, using the architecture and acoustics of every venue.

Els Janssens-Vanmunster performs and records with different ensembles such as Mora Vocis (F), Ensemble Leones (D), La Morra (CH), Meitar Ensemble (Isr) and Solistes XXI (F) on the most prestigious stages in Europe and the rest of the world. 

Els Janssens-Vanmunster teaches in workshops, master classes and at the Montpellier University (F). She is frequently asked as a language-coach and for her artistic advise.
